3003 Pen Joint Polyurea
3003 Pen Joint is a slow-set aromatic polyurea designed for interior control joints and minor concrete repairs. It is a two-part, 100% solids, self-leveling system that can be hand-mixed or machine dispensed. It is ideal for rapid installations and environments with limited downtime, including cold conditions as low as -20°F.

Advantages
- USDA-compliant.
- Rapid application and set times (5–8 minutes gel time at 77°F).
- Suitable for cold applications (-20°F).
- “Drive-over” ready in 20–30 minutes.
- Excellent abrasion and impact resistance.
- Moisture-resistant and non-flammable.
- No VOC, no odor, and self-leveling.
Unique Characteristics
- Low viscosity for deep penetration and “nano-locking” into joint walls.
- Quick setting; grindable and scrappable within minutes.
- Does not become brittle over time.
- Ideal for 24/7 operational facilities.
Use Cases
- Expansion and control joints in interior concrete.
- Cold storage/freezer thresholds.
- Cracks and spalls.
- Utility cuts.
- Cable runs and inductive loops.
- Saw cuts.
Preparation
- Ensure concrete has a minimum 28-day cure.
- Use a dry diamond saw to abrade joint walls to a depth of 1.25 inches.
- Remove all contaminants, such as curing agents, oils, or moisture.
- Clean and vacuum joint walls thoroughly.
- Perform an acetone wash for optimal bonding.
- Use backer rods only in construction joints.
Priming
- Areas with high moisture vapor should be pre-treated with ASTC CMW to reduce vapor pressure.
- Refer to ASTC’s CMW data sheet for application details.
Application in Cold Conditions
- Warm the product to 80°F–90°F before use in below-zero environments.
- Pre-condition materials one day prior to application.
- For extreme cold, use heat guns for cutting and ensure equipment protection.
Application Process
- Use ASTC-recommended 1:1 pump application equipment.
- Maintain product temperature above 72°F during application.
- Apply with a slight over-pour and trim within 15–20 minutes using a sharp razor.
