6009 LV (Low Viscosity) Metallic Epoxy

6009 LV Metallic Epoxy is a 100% solids, advanced epoxy resin with the following features:

  • Resistant to amine blush and water spotting.
  • Specifically formulated with lower viscosity for improved flowability and reduced air bubbles.
  • Designed to penetrate, seal, and protect substrates for enhanced durability and appearance.
  • Ideal for all metallic epoxy flooring applications, providing a clear, glass-like finish.

Unique Characteristics

  • Extended Working Time: Ideal for intricate designs and large surface areas.
  • Low Viscosity: Ensures smooth application and minimal bubbling.
  • Air Release Agents: Reduces microbubbles for a flawless finish.
  • Compatibility: Designed for use with ASTC pigments and metallic powder packs.
  • Versatility: Suitable for industrial, commercial, and decorative applications.

Advantages

  • High build and excellent color stability.
  • Resistant to most tire stains (plasticizer migration).
  • Exceptional abrasion and chemical resistance.
  • Clear cross-linking finish with a glass-like appearance.
  • Increased flowability and air release for seamless application.
  • Compatible with accelerators for faster curing.

Applications

The 6009 LV Metallic Epoxy is suitable for:

  • Decorative Floor Finishes: Industrial, commercial, and residential floors.
  • Interior Applications: Non-UV-stable environments.
  • Specialty Coatings: Clear topcoats for color chips, quartz, and metallic designs.
  • Industrial Floors: Warehouses, containment areas, and pedestrian walkways.

Preparation

  1. Concrete Cure: Ensure a minimum 28-day cure period.
  2. Surface Cleaning: Remove contaminants, oils, wax, and old coatings.
  3. Moisture Testing: Conduct a moisture vapor test to ensure substrate compatibility.
  4. Surface Profiling: Abrade to a rough profile of at least 2 mils.
  5. Crack and Void Repair: Seal and repair imperfections using ASTC-approved materials.

Priming and Moisture Vapor Reduction

  • Compatible with 6000 Series Epoxy Primers, 70001 Pen Prime, and 8000 CMW.
  • For higher moisture vapor transmission (up to 18 psi), use the 6007 Nova Bar Epoxy Primer.

Mixing and Pigmentation

  1. Mixing:
    • Use a jiffy mixer with a 450 rpm drill motor.
    • Mix components A and B for 2–3 minutes, avoiding air entrapment.
    • Transfer to a clean container and remix before application.
  2. Pigmentation:
    • Use 12–14 ounces of pigment per mixed gallon.
    • For metallic powders, pre-mix into the B component 24 hours before use.

Application Guidelines

  • Temperature Range: 35°F to 125°F.
  • Film Thickness: Apply in films of 8–16 mils per coat.
  • Recoat Timing: Apply a second coat as soon as the first is walkable (8–10 hours).

Environmental Considerations

  • Cold Temperatures: Slower curing below 50°F; use accelerators for improved performance.
  • Hot Temperatures: Faster curing above 85°F; mix smaller batches to prevent premature setting.

Limitations

  • Avoid application on wet surfaces or standing water.
  • Store product on wood pallets in a dry, room-temperature environment.
  • For professional use only. Refer to the MSDS before application.
