3246 Pen Joint Polyurea

3246 PenJoint is a slow-set polyurea designed for use in concrete expansion joints in parking structures, bridges, airfields, and more. This 100% solids, self-leveling product is ideal for:

  • Exterior moving joints.
  • Rapid installations with minimal downtime.
  • Cold environments where other polymers may fail.

Advantages

  • High-density, true polyurea.
  • Excellent elongation in cold conditions.
  • Meets FAA P605 and ESS 200 military specifications.
  • Drive-over ready in 30–45 minutes.
  • Resistant to moisture, chemicals, abrasion, and impact.
  • No VOCs, no odor.

Applications

3246 PenJoint is suitable for:

  • Expansion joints in parking structures, bridges, and airfields.
  • Loading docks, decks, and garage floor joints.
  • Cold storage thresholds and other moving expansion joints.

Preparation

  1. Ensure concrete has cured for at least 28 days.
  2. Abrade joint walls to a depth of approximately 1.25 inches using a diamond saw.
  3. Remove contaminants like oils, wax, and curing agents.
  4. Clean and vacuum joint walls thoroughly.
  5. For optimal bonding, perform an acetone wash after vacuuming.

Priming & Moisture Vapor Reduction

  • Use ASTC PenPrime 7001 for best results, especially for large moving joints.
  • Pre-treat high moisture vapor areas with ASTC CMW to reduce pressure.

Application

  • Use ASTC-recommended 1:1 displacement pumps or LS pumps.
  • Warm the product to 72°F before application.
  • Fill joints from the bottom up to slightly below grade.
