ProGrout AL: Aliphatic Rapid Repair with Color Retention for Exterior / Interior Spalls and Floors

ProGrout AL is the aliphatic, UV-stable version of ASTC’s ProGrout rapid repair polymer for exterior and interior concrete spalls and floors. It is usable in low temperatures and offers color retention for exposed and decorative repairs. Part of the 4000 Series family of very rapid set, high strength, ultra-low viscosity concrete repair polymers with Nano Locking Technology, available in slow and fast set versions. Mix ratio 1A:1B. Sold in 2, 10 and 110 gallon units.

4000 Series Information

The 4000 Series is a very rapid set, high strength, ultra-low viscosity concrete repair polymer. It was developed with rapid repair in mind along with a tenacious bond to the concrete to enable a fast return to service – originally for the US Air Force and runways. That same Nano Locking Technology is used in all ASTC high performance concrete repair work, enabling less downtime and projects to be completed faster. Manufactured in 70% solids for easy mixing; available in aromatic (non-UV stable) and aliphatic (UV stable) versions, slow and fast cure; cartridge or hand mixed; grindable.

Unique Properties

  • Aliphatic – UV Stable: color retention for exterior repairs exposed to sunlight and for interior floor repair or color match.
  • Very Rapid Set: 10 to 15 minute back-in-use time – reduces facility down-time and maintenance man hours.
  • Ultra-Low Viscosity: deeply penetrates and “nano-locks” into the concrete better than epoxy and does not become brittle over time.
  • Low Temperature Use: usable in low and below-zero temperatures.
  • Grindable: grinds smooth in just a few minutes; can be a standalone repair that does not need to be coated over.

Advantages

  • Rapid floor repairs – back in service in 10-15 minutes.
  • High strength; fuel resistant; meets USDA requirements; satisfies OSHA floor facility safety and surface conditions.
  • Color-stable aliphatic crack and spall repair for exterior and interior use; available in duplex cartridges (fast set).
  • Cartridge or hand mixed; slow and fast cure versions.

Uses

  • All concrete spall / damage rapid restore and repair
  • Rebuilding control joint walls, floor repair
  • General concrete cracks; knitting / stitching cracked concrete with rebar
  • Shallow spalls on warehouse floors and bridge decks; grade matching
  • Cold storage thresholds; decks and loading docks; runways

Preparation

  • Concrete must have a minimum 28-day cure prior to application. Concrete must be dry.
  • Clean the damaged concrete surface and remove all unsound concrete, dust and debris. Prepare the surface using a dry diamond blade or a twisted wire wheel and cut the perimeter around the damage to form a key-way.
  • Using a crack chaser blade, open all cracks to provide some depth for the product to penetrate deep into the crack and to clean the crack walls for good bonding.

Mixing & Application

  • Mix at a 1:1 ratio (1A:1B) with a jiffy mixer or other multi-blade mechanical mixer only – no paddle mixers. Mix parts A and B mechanically at high speed for approximately 30 seconds. For cracks, pour equal portions of A and B into a squeeze bottle, shake vigorously for 30 seconds and squeeze into the crack immediately.
  • Do not let the mixed product remain in the mixing container – left in mass it will heat up very quickly; pour it out within 3-4 minutes.
  • The product can be used neat or with dry silica sand (1 part mixed A+B to 2 parts sand) for more strength and thicker fills. Screed to finished grade, allow to set, then grind smooth with a fine-grit cup wheel and seal the surface with neat product. Top coat as needed.
  • Product will set faster in hot or warm conditions and slower in cool or cold conditions – only mix small batches in hot weather and specify slow or fast set before ordering.

Limitations

  • Do not use on wet surfaces or expose part A to moisture. This product is not intended as a joint filler – refer to the ASTC 3000 Series for joint fillers.
  • Store cartridge cases and kits out of direct sunlight in a cool location, protected from heat. Do not use product that is hot (over 90°F).
  • For professional applicators only. Wear protective clothing and gloves; read the MSDS before use. DOT/Flash Point: non-flammable liquid classification, not regulated.

Packaging & Shelf Life

  • Mix ratio 1A:1B. Sold in 2, 10 and 110 gallon units (also available in duplex cartridges).
  • Shelf life: 1 year stored at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
